UUP Delegate Assembly

Thursday, September 26, 8 am–Friday, September 27, 2024 2 pm

Albany, NY

The Delegate Assembly (DA) is the main business meeting of UUP. A DA is attended by delegates, committee members and observers from across the state. The DA is comprised of plenaries, committee meetings and trainings with the focus of bringing information back to share at chapters with UUP members.

The main business of UUP takes place during the plenaries. This includes reports of statewide officers, committee reports, elections and voting on policies and constitutional changes.

Committee meetings bring together members from across the state based on common interests. Some committees provide direct support to programs and campuses such as the Academic Medical Programs Committee or Disability Rights and Concerns Committee. Other committees provide direct assistance in the workings of UUP such as the Finance Committee or Constitution and Governance Committee. For a full list of UUPs Committees click HERE.

Training is an increasingly important aspect of DA meetings. Training on various topics are designed to provide information that helps members back at chapters. Past trainings have included topics such as workplace hostility, understanding the grievance process, helping members with student loan debt, and member to member engagement.

Delegates are the governing body of UUP. Delegates are elected from the membership of each chapter and serve a two-year term. The most important role of the delegate is to connect with members at the chapter and bring forward questions and concerns to both the chapter and statewide leadership.
