Amherst Donations to Immigrants

ATTENTION!!

THE CITY OF AMHERST IS ASKING FOR GENTLY USED, CLEAN CLOTHES AND TOYS FOR THE IMMIGRANTS WHO CAME TO THIS COUNTRY WITH NOT MORE THAN THEY COULD CARRY!! 

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP, DONATIONS, CAN BE DROPPED OFF TO 112 ALLEN HALL SOUTH CAMPUS.

THE OFFICE HOURS ARE M.,T.,TH., 10:00-3:00. THERE WILL ALSO BE A DONATION BOX OUTSIDE THE DOOR IF THE OFFICE IS CLOSED.

We are accepting gently used winter clothing and boots and new socks and underwear at this time.  If you have non-winter items, we encourage you to donate them to St. Christopher’s Clothing Pantry with whom we work closely throughout the year to clothe our many families in need throughout the town.

In terms of toys, we are doing new or almost new toys only as part of a holiday drive.  They have lots of used toys already and storage space on site is very limited.

In terms of other needs, the big need is for weekend activities for kids and families as the hotel has no central gathering space.  We are looking for groups to take them on outings or to provide transportation to one of our community centers for an afternoon and then provide volunteers to work with our staff to supervise the gym, engage in arts & crafts, read with kids, etc.

There is no need for food as they have 24 access to meals and snacks provided by DocGo, although our 7 food pantries in the Town of Amherst are always in need and would gladly accept donations.
